Soda is not just dangerous for your waistline...
Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 8:57AM Wow! I have been talking for a long time about the health risks of drinking soda, but a new study has taken my voice up a few volumes. A recent study done by the University of MN showed a significant increase in your chances of suffering from pancreatic cancer from drinking just two sodas a week! They suspect that the increase is due to the bodies response to the overload of sugar in the soda. The study didn't look at other health risks associated with drinking soda, which include obesity, inflammation and diabetes.
I often tell my clients to start "dialing in" to their nutrition by cutting out soda first. For some this can be challenging because the bodies response to the caffeine and sugar are similar to withdrawal from other habit forming drugs. At almost 200 calories a can, imagine how quickly the pounds come off from just this simple change. Not only that, but once off of the soda many clients have more energy, start to feel less achy, and begin to make healthier food choices.
This study proves that just "cutting down" isn't enough when it comes to preventing life long health complications. I encourage everyone to do like Nike says and "Just do it", get it out of the house and start living a healthier life!
